Fun days at Schneider House of Hope!! Girl Scout Jodie Pierce and her mother Jeannie came to share arts and crafts (and snacks) with our “Children” of all ages. We have just ended another great Summer Camp Season. Once again we thank Physicians Charitable Foundation of Miami Valley for the grant that enables us to send our children to Camp Jabez and camp Jabes We have 19 campers that were able to enjoy the Bible lessons, horses, hiking, and fishing, paddle boating and lots of water. Thank you to all those who came out for the Volunteer Fish Fry on Friday night. About 45 volunteers gathered to share a delicious meal of fresh walleye and all the fixin’s. In 2016 we served 37 Families in house. These families were comprised of 46 adults and 54 children. There were 25 children ages 6-18 yrs. old and 29 children were 5 yrs. old or less. In 2017 we served 32 families in house. These families were comprised of 106 individuals. Since 1995, IHN/Schneider House of Hope has provided temporary shelter and other services to displaced children and their families in Greene County. While the need for such services is ever present, it is the unpleasant responsibility of the IHN Board of Directors to let our member churches, congregations, organizations, businesses and other shelter friends know of the difficult financial realities that we now face. Linda McLaughlin and Brent Avey representatives of the Xenia Elks were present with Bill the Director of IHN when 14 new mattresses were delivered and installed on Friday. Linda helped IHN receive a donation of $2,000 from the Elks National. The Elks purchased 14 new mattresses for our clients with the $2,000 donation. IHN will solicit funds to purchase the remaining 10 mattresses.
